BOOKSHELF IOCISTO NAPLES

In Naples the first "popular shareholding" bookshop for which all the citizens can contribute and support its management, it is called "I'm in", is located in the Vomero district in via Cimarosa 20, and is a project born by chance thanks above all to the social networks, which took shape thanks to crowdfunding and has now started a project for children with the first funds raised online.

The idea of a library of the citizens received from Ciro Sabatino, journalist and former editor, has in fact immediately achieved great success on Facebook where countless people, day after day, have responded to his appeal, and in record time have contributed to the realization of the library. “Iocisto” It has thus become a cultural association with more than 300 members, all financiers of the library to popular shareholding. A good signal and an important response to the crisis which unfortunately in recent times has led to the closure of many bookstores from the North to the South of the country.

After launching a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, the bookstore has chosen to invest the first €5000 raised, thanks to the generosity of 111 contributors, in a children's space. The space for young readers, created with the funds raised online, will be furnished in a welcoming, colorful style, just like a children's bedroom: it will be an interactive space open to children who want to read books and the mothers who accompany them. A carefully selected selection of texts will serve to encourage children to practice reading, a healthy habit that helps broaden the mind to discovery and exploration beyond direct experience, thus strengthening memory, logical thinking, and abstraction skills. The underlying idea is to read "with" the child, not "at" it; it's a way to create ongoing dialogue, stimulate discussion, and maintain high levels of concentration.

In addition to the most popular volumes, the library will also offer space and attention to small publishing houses locals and emerging writers. There will also be cultural events and presentations. Anyone wishing to participate can join the cultural association, become a shareholder in the bookstore, and contribute to its management.
