JULIA BUTTERFLY HILL
He lived 738 days on a platform measuring one meter by two meters, more than 50 meters above the ground. He was 23 years old and with his gesture he succeeded in preventing the demolition of a large forest of redwoods in Northern California. We are talking about Julia Butterfly Hill, one of the best known environmentalists Americans who in 1997 went up Moon, an ancient sequoia, gave a great lesson to the entire world.

JULIA BUTTERFLY HILL STORY
Julia managed to resist not only the pressures that were put on her but also all the atmospheric events, from the blinding sun to the pouring rain, through the gusts of wind and the storms of INFO. His efforts, however, were rewarded because managed to prevent to Maxxam Corporation to carry out the so-called "clear cut", that is, the felling of trees of all ages and sizes, and then burning the entire area. Julia only came down from the tree once the result was achieved on December 18, 1999. The company, in fact, committed not to cut down Luna and all the sequoias within a radius of sixty meters. Julia had first climbed the tree on December 10, 1997.

Initially, Julia's goal, which she had coordinated with the environmentalist group she was part of, was to break the record for staying on a tree, stopped at 42 days, to attract the attention of the press. After the hundredth day, however, the story became so significant that "Butterfly", the nickname the media had given Julia, decided to stay until the company committed not to tear down the forestThis story, today, has inspired a book that takes inspiration from the event by telling the story of a equally brave and determined little girlLittle Julia, her name is no coincidence, with the help of her two- and four-legged friends, manages to save a beloved sequoia. The book published by New Earth is called "Julia and the sequoia” and it's a way to relive an incredible story of love towards a planet who is often brutally mistreated.
