According to a promise by Environment Minister Gilberto Pichetto, €597 million in incentives for the purchase of electric cars will be available during 2025-2026. This money will go to car buyers who, according to government estimates, will replace 39 polluting vehicles.
Who can get the incentive to scrap their old car and replace it with an electric one? The formula is a progressive contribution based on income: a €9 bonus for drivers with an ISEE of up to €40; €11 for electric car buyers with an ISEE of up to €30.
How do you get the 2025-2026 incentives? Access to incentives for the purchase of electric cars will be available through an online platform starting from September 2025. The important thing, if you intend to request the incentive, to avoid wasting time and risk arriving too late with respect to the requests, is however Be prepared with your ISEE documentation, check the availability of the car you want to scrap, and have a clear idea of the model you intend to purchase.
The electric car market in Italy (in the first quarter of 2025 it accounted for just 5 percent of the total car market in our country) is losing ground for three fundamental reasons. The prices of these types of vehicles are still too high, and electric cars remain a consumption reserved for green consumer caste. All the incentives provided so far, in a climate of great uncertainty and lack of continuity, have benefited car manufacturers, struggling due to falling demand and delays in their production innovation, more than consumers. Charging times and methods are still decidedly inadequate, considering that in China, now the world's most advanced country in the diffusion and development of electric vehicles, drivers can charge their electric cars in a few seconds.
