HYDROGEN TRAIN GERMANY –
Everything is ready in Germany for the first hydrogen trains which will be circulating in the country starting at the end of 2017. The hydrogen that will power this mobility revolution will initially be stored by chemical plants as waste, which is currently burned (thus reducing waste). Subsequently, the French company Alstom, which developed the hydrogen train, will equip train stations with systems to produce hydrogen from water. There are already 14 hydrogen trains that will be put into operation in Germany, but requests for the same vehicle have reached Alstom from other European countries: Denmark, Holland and Norway.
CORADIA ILINT HYDROGEN TRAIN –
Among the railway companies around the world, the French Alstom he took the veil off his Coradia iLint, hydrogen-powered trainThis futuristic convoy, now a reality, It will produce zero emissions and will also be silent, thus producing zero acoustic impact..

ALSTOM HYDROGEN TRAIN –
The train, on the tracks since the end of 2017, will run on the regional route connecting the German cities of Buxtehude and Cuxhaven. Germany has also ordered 14 more trains with which it aims to replace, in the long term, its more than 4 diesel-powered trains. The numbers of this train of the future are convincing and will not make us regret the classic locomotives. In fact, Coradia iLint travels at 140 km/h, with a daily autonomy of well 800 km, carrying 300 Guests.
HOW THE HYDROGEN TRAIN WORKS –
In a first moment, The French train will be powered by hydrogen obtained from the recovery of chemical waste from German plants.. Subsequently, however, filling stations with electrolysis systems will be set upThis is precisely where theItaly, with its flagship, a hydrogen production plant to be used as fuel. Since 2014, in fact, Bolzano there is H2 South Tyrol, the only global center in Italy with the mission of producing the fuel of the future. The plant in Alto Adige will be used to supply the “green” stations between Brenner and Verona, in what is defined as the green corridor – which will unfold between Munich and Modena.
ADVANTAGES OF THE HYDROGEN TRAIN –
The three electrolysers in Bolzano will be able to produce hydrogen to refuel 15 bus e 700 cars, totaling a CO2 savings of 1.200.000 kgUnfortunately, the cost of hydrogen vehicles is estimated to be higher than that of conventional fossil fuel vehicles, at least for the first 15-20 years. The same loss-making period is estimated for the first hydrogen refueling stations. However, innovation must undergo a short period of sacrifice to achieve the goal of a sustainable and renewable roads.
