How to use lavender oil

Lavender oil can be used in a variety of ways, depending on the desired goal. To relax and even aid sleep, lavender oil can be used in more than one way.
  • With diffuser or vaporizer: Place 3–5 drops of oil in a diffuser filled with water. The aroma helps reduce stress and anxiety.
  • With a pillow or room spray: Mix 10–15 drops of oil with 100 ml of distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake well and spray on your pillow or around the room.
  • With a relaxing bath: Add 5–10 drops of oil to your bath water (better if diluted in a spoonful of milk or honey to avoid it leaving a greasy residue on your skin).
Even when it comes to skin care, the methods of use are linked to the objectives to be achieved:
  • Soothe irritation or insect bites: Dilute 2–3 drops in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil (almond, jojoba) and apply gently to the area.
  • Light sunburn or redness: same procedure, applying delicately.
  • Massages: Add 5–10 drops of lavender oil to 50 ml of carrier oil for a relaxing or anti-stress massage.
In the case of hair care, lavender oil should be used in combination with shampoo and conditioner.
  • Shampoo or conditioner: Add 5–10 drops to your mild shampoo or conditioner. It helps soothe the scalp and may reduce itching or mild dandruff.
  • Pre-shampoo pack: Mix a few drops with coconut or olive oil, apply to the scalp, leave on for 20–30 minutes, then wash as usual.
At home, lavender oil works well both for scenting closets, drawers, and linens, and for keeping insects at bay.
