Paper napkins are among the most common items of waste in our homes. Yet, among the many ways we can recycle them, one is particularly useful: cutting them up to decorate candles we have at home.
The technique used is decoupage, which in this case requires two simple materials: paper napkins in your favorite pattern and PVA glue mixed with a little water. You'll also need scissors and a paintbrush.
Procedure:
- Start by removing the white veil from the napkin, leaving only the one decorated with the pattern you have chosen.
- Cut out any elements you want to use, such as flowers, strawberries, or other designs on the napkin.
- Gently glue each element onto the candle using PVA glue diluted with a little water.
- Continue gluing the cut-out elements until you're satisfied with the result. Then, apply a light coat of glue over the decorations using the brush to create a protective film.
- Let it dry completely.
The ideal is to make several candles and use them as decorations for the room or as a personalized gift.
