Reduce car use in the city, choose the train over the plane, avoid food waste: the climate crisis certainly cannot be solved with a few choices green in our daily lifestyles. It's a global problem that requires strong and shared political responses, first and foremost at the international level: but some simple and effective daily gestures, if multiplied on a large scale, through the emulation effect, can have a significant impactEvery small gesture from each of us counts to make us all more aware and truly contribute to establishing a truly sustainable development model.
- Use your private car less in the city. Now there are alternatives, it's just a matter of practicing them. First of all, sharing services (from the car to the motorbike, up to the bicycle) and public transport (when it works), then the bicycle and the most sustainable choice in urban mobility, also for the benefits to the body and mind: walk.
- Prefer the train to the plane. For short and medium distances, choosing the train, rather than flying, is certainly the best solution, and also the most effective for combating global warming. In addition to saving money, choosing the train means contributing significantly to the reduction of harmful emissions, starting with greenhouse gases.
- Food choices. It's not about everyone becoming vegetarian or vegan, nor about obsessing over the fairy tale of "healthy food," but sensibly reducing red meat consumption certainly also means reducing the very high emissions associated with the livestock industry. The same goes for seasonal fruits and vegetables and locally sourced food products: these are simple choices, but they also help reduce CO2 emissions.
- Planting trees and create green spaces. No matter where we live, whether in a city or a village, in a central neighborhood or on the outskirts, we can make a significant contribution to the global fight against global warming by increasing green spaces. How? We have several options: plant trees, also through one of the many associations of citizens and volunteers that certainly exist in the area where we live, or even create green roofs, which means saving on your heating and cooling energy bills and reducing harmful emissions.
- Do not overdo it warm-up and with the irrational and frenetic use of air conditioning.
- Be careful when using the Internet and Artificial Intelligence. These are sources of enormous energy consumption, with the associated emissions. We certainly can't do without the Internet or Artificial Intelligence (although we should learn to use it alongside natural intelligence), but we are all capable, every day, of using these precious resources, the result of rapid technological progress, in a less compulsive way. Thus, we can lend a small helping hand to the environment.
- Reduce waste. If you think about it for a moment, taking a look at what you throw into the garbage bins every day, reduce waste production It's not difficult, and it should become a widely shared choice across the globe. Yet, plastic consumption, for example, continues to rise, with the resulting waste producing harmful and dangerous microplastics. The time has come to take action with a simple yet powerful and valuable gesture within our lifestyles geared toward true sustainability.
