The sweater is old and you don't use it anymore. Your measurements have changed and you can't wear it. It's a gift, with a lot of imagination, but you just don't like it. What to do? To avoid wasting it, a good and simple idea could be to transform it into a skirt. Follow this procedure:
- First, measure your waist.
- Two options: you can take the tape measure and pass it around your waist (not too low also because you will then wear the gonna almost certainly with a belt) and divide the measurement taken by two; or take the measurement of a skirt or trousers with the waist that best suits you.
- Now spread the sweater out flat on the table.
- The bottom hem of the sweater will become your waist, so mark the measurement you just took in the center of the hem.
- Then cut the sweater just below the sleeve seam and from the edges of the waist you just marked to the cut you just made as in the figure.
- At this point, simply sew the two sides, hem, and, if necessary, add elastic at the waist to help the fit.
