FREE CARE FOR THE POOR

FREE DOCTOR

Il social-healthcare facility was created within the Parish of Sant'Antonio di Bari. Inside, every Friday, volunteer doctors from the Nikolaos Onlus carry out prevention, free visits and screenings for adults and children from difficult and needy situations. The idea to open this facility came from the tireless Father Vito Dipinto, parish priest of the church, who, together with the Vincentian volunteer group, involved the health workers to lend a hand not only to the families of the populous Madonnella district, but also to the many migrants. In fact, the latter often do not have a point of reference where they can be visited and for them The device is literally worth its weight in gold because it is the only way they know how to treat themselves.The medical team is led by retired vascular surgeon Enzo Limosano, who has decided to dedicate his time at the service of the weakest.

FREE DOCTOR BARI

The Sant'Antonio medical center is part of a small, but very effective, solidarity network with the recently inaugurated garrison in Parish of the Sacred Heart, always in Bari. “Ours is a real health room – declared Limosano in a recent interview given to Nicola Lavacca on Avvenire –, where we want to welcome those who lack the means and resources to undergo specialized tests and check-ups, and whose lives could be at risk if they didn't receive help and support. We have been donated a defibrillator, essential for diagnosing the cause of a sudden illness and responding accordingly. The service is active inside some spaces made available by the parish, and is open every Friday from hours to 9 12. In this way all those people, whether from Bari or immigrants, who do not have the money to turn to specialists and who, if not helped, could even risk their lives, they will be able to turn to a structure that responds to the needs of the city: "we are here".
