Coronavirus, Rome: Fines up to €500 for abandoning gloves and masks

"During these months of the coronavirus health emergency," the mayor declared, "our sanitation workers have repeatedly reported having to collect used gloves and masks thrown on the ground by uncivilized people. This is shameful behavior that, thanks to this measure, will be severely punished." The gesture, in addition to representing an act of incivility, puts both operators and passers-by at risk.
