Amazon should work and invest in Italy. But pay taxes; we're not in the Cayman Islands...

Tax evasion of 130 million euros has been confirmed so far: money the country cannot waste. The idea that someone who opens factories and hires people can also evade taxes is unacceptable.

AMAZON TAX EVASION –

Not a day goes by without hearing about the wonders of Amazon and its gargantuan investments in Italy. We can only say "thank you, and congratulations" to the extraordinary innovative power of this American giant of dreams come true (and there are no Sanremo songs left...), and to its desire to invest in Italy. An excellent market, among other things, for the company, given that its mega-ecommerce store sells more than 100 million units a year and generates billions in revenue.

Reading the chronicles of the Amazon singers, in permanent active service, one discovers that 1200 workers will soon be employed in the new warehouse in Passo Corese, on the outskirts of Rome. Extraordinary news, certainly, considering Italy's serious employment crisis. And in the other logistics center on the outskirts of Piacenza the new positions, despite the massive presence of robots, they will be 1.500Precious numbers that, let's face it, no Italian company is currently able to bring to the table.

AMAZON HIRING IN ITALY –

Congratulations were paid and the skills of Jess Bezos and his team were recognised, among which the Italian Diego Piacentini, now the government's digital commissioner, stood out. We would appreciate it, and we would all be happier and more content, if Amazon did something else too: pay taxes. Like the honest businesses and citizens of this country, even while swallowing an unequaled tax burden. We're not in the Cayman Islands, Italy isn't yet a tax haven (if anything, it's a hotbed of high-level tax evaders), and all these mechanisms invented by diabolical advisors specializing in tax evasion mechanisms, with corporate entities in Luxembourg, Ireland, and elsewhere to extend the chain and reduce or even eliminate the account, do not do justice to Amazon's caliber. And for us, citizens and taxpayers, they translate into an unsustainable and unacceptable waste.

AMAZON TAX EVASION –

According to the latest investigation by the Guardia di Finanza, we are already at a tax evasion of 130 million euros. Not exactly peanuts. And the figure could still grow., if the investigations (including those by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office) continue. There are interesting precedents: Apple, where the same Italian pairing of investments and tax evasion applied, made a settlement with the tax authorities and wrote a check for 318 million euros. And Google, sooner or later, will have to realize that the laws, strangely enough, also exist in Italy, and so it would be wise to disclose the 300 million euros in tax evasion that have been verified and contested. The same goes for Amazon: Bezos's men should stop being nitpickers and bullies, and should pay the taxes they too are owed. Also because with this mass tax evasion, Italy risks bankruptcy, and considering the investments made, this prospect is not even convenient for the American multinational..
