DIY Epiphany: lots of ideas for making it with creative recycling

You can make them with toilet paper rolls. Or with mismatched socks. Even with a glass jar.

DIY Epiphany: 7 Creative Recycling Ideas

Make one DIY Epiphany with creative recycling It's a fun pastime that combines the useful with the enjoyable. On the one hand, it allows us to engage in a creative activity, on the other, it allows us to recycle o reuse All those materials that would otherwise be thrown away. And yet they are precious resources, useful for creating a DIY Befana that is every bit as beautiful as store-bought ones.

All you need to do is take a look around your home, gather together a series of objects or materials that you no longer use and that you might be ready to throw away, and give them a second chance to create the absolute protagonist of the Epiphany.

Glass jar

It is possible to create a Befana starting from a glass jar And some fabrics? The answer is yes: all you need is a jar and some scraps of fabric. Simply glue the pieces of fabric onto the jar to make the dress. Then, hot glue a piece of wood or other material to the fabric to form the torso. Finally, use a small ball of fabric to make the face, and some wool threads to make the hair. For the glasses, you can shape a piece of thin wire.

With a pilot plant Cork and a coffee capsule, you can make a cute little DIY Befana like this one. Color the bottom half of the cap black to resemble a dress. Draw eyes and a mouth on the top half. Cover the top of the cap with wool threads, which you'll then glue together with hot glue. Finish by attaching the capsule, around which you can wrap a thin string or rope, if desired.

Plastic cup

Have you ever seen when, during the holidays, even though we shouldn't give in to the temptation to use the plastic cupsWell, once you're done with lunch, don't throw them away, but collect them to make a creatively recycled Befana. In this case, you'll need to glue them together with hot glue to create two "balls." One, the larger one, will be the body. The other, smaller one, will become the head. Finish by applying some fabric as a hat, and some eyes and a nose, cut out of black cardboard or fabric. And an old scarf will complete your work of art.

Toilet paper rolls

Another proposal to obtain a DIY Befana with creative recycling consists in using toilet paper rollsThese, specially painted black or covered with black fabric, will form the old lady's body. To complete her, add a small ball, which you can also make by simply crumpling up some paper and painting it a neutral color, a hat made by folding a piece of cardboard into a cone, and, as usual, hair, made with cotton or wool thread of your choice.

Socks

With unpaired or ruined socks we can make a simple Befana like this: fill two of them, one bigger for the body, the other smaller for the head, with fabric or other material that you would otherwise have to throw away (even the straw from Christmas baskets which we never know what to do with). Then complete the work with other scrap materials easily found at home, such as organza (during the holiday season we are inundated with it), and anything else you can collect.

Wool

Another DIY Befana. This time, all you need is some wool thread and organza, commonly used to make sugared almond bags. Use the former to create a pom pom; use the latter to decorate the Befana's dress. Use a wooden twig and raffia to make a broom, and so on, letting your creativity run wild.

Yogurt bottle

DIY Epiphany: Creative Recycling

Let's see together how to proceed to make a creative Befana with the bottles of wine yogurt and other materials we all have at home: an idea from Grandpa Carlo with an attached step-by-step tutorial.

Necessary

  • A small bottle of yogurt
  • Black cardboard
  • Sorghum
  • Toothpick
  • Sewing thread
  • Two bottle caps
  • Wool threads
  • cotton swab
  • Fabric scraps
  • Vinyl glue
  • Method

1-2) Get a well-washed empty yogurt bottle, cut the edge a little with large scissors and poke holes from bottom to top, from one side to the other (use a knitting needle or a nail for this operation, be careful of your fingers)!

3-4) For the cape, cut out two half-moons from black cardstock, the larger one 16,8x9,8cm – the smaller one 15x7,5cm – hold them tightly to the bottle and glue the two ends of the large one over the small one, as shown in the photo.

5-6) We salvage some sorghum from an old broom and make a brush using string, a toothpick, and PVA glue. Then we insert the brush handle, passing it between the cape and the bottle, until it reaches just below the hands.

7-8) We decorate the cape by gluing the fabric scraps together. For the face, we use a small Styrofoam ball and glue on: woolen threads for the hair, cardboard and a cap for the hat, and a nose. cotton swab, neck plug.

9) Our "Dolce Befana" is finished, all that's left to do is fill it with chocolates and sweets.

Let's see together how to proceed to create a creative Epiphany with yogurt bottles and other materials that we all have at home: an idea of Grandfather Carlo.
