Canù: the organic, gluten-free pasta straw that doesn't pollute the sea and is edible for fish.

The CAMPO cooperative was founded in 1978 in Isola del Piano, a small village nestled in the Marche countryside, to answer a very specific question: how to farm without poisoning the land and produce healthy food. Over time, in addition to its commitment to combating poisons, the cooperative began working on developing innovative products to promote sustainable choices and behaviors that respect the environment and society. One inspiration came from the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which calls for reducing all forms of marine pollution: every year, fish, birds, turtles, and marine mammals are victims of ingesting the millions of tons of waste that ends up in the sea. Starting with plastic straws (approximately 500 billion are consumed each year), fragments of which often end up in the oceans , causing enormous pollution.

Thus it was born Canù, the first organic and gluten-free pasta straw, GMO-free, completely biodegradable and which, if it were to end up in the sea, becomes excellent food for fish.Canù is in fact made with corn flour, a very common cereal, which is also gluten-free, and which, as an agricultural raw material, is sustainable and renewable every year.

Canù's environmental impact is therefore extraordinary: tons of polluting straws replaced by a totally organic, compostable and biodegradable product, with great benefit for the planet; considering that on average a plastic straw It weighs 3 grams, with the 5 million Canù straws sold so far, the dispersion of 15.000 kg of polluting straws into the environment has been avoided. A small start, sure, but if all the straws consumed in a year worldwide were made of pasta, 1 million tons of waste would be avoided.

The raw materials used to produce Canù are certified organic: a safe and poison-free product. In terms of production and processing, with specific reference to water consumption, no more than three liters of water are used to produce one kilo of Canù, thus reducing the environmental impact on water resources. As for packaging, Canù is sold in FSC-certified paper packaging (primary and secondary), in line with the plastic-free philosophy that the product embraces and promotes. Specifically, the primary packaging is a paper bag with a sewn closure. cotton The secondary packaging is a cardboard box sealed with paper tape. To transport Canù, INKA pallets made of pressed wood, which are recyclable and biodegradable, are used.
