What to do with shells

Using shells of various sizes and shapes, you can create a beautiful garland to hang outside your beach house or in a room decorated in a nautical theme. Simply gather some branches and weave them together to create the garland (or use a pre-made styrofoam garland, wrapped with string). Then, attach the shells with hot glue and you're done.

Dream catcher

This beautiful dreamcatcher is made from shells large and small, either drilled with a tiny drill bit (preferably ones with a natural hole) and then tied together with string or nylon thread. If placed above a door or window, the slightest gust of wind will cause the dreamcatcher to tinkle and produce a truly magical sound.

Candles

For example, oyster or scallop shells can be used to make very decorative candles . Simply pour a little wax into them, dip a wick in it, and the candle is ready to use.

Decorations

To answer the question, "where can you put shells?", those colloquially called "heart" shells become a very refined decorative element when placed inside glasses and displayed prominently on a living room table. Or simply inside wicker baskets.

Frame

Using hot glue, you can decorate a frame with scallop shells, heart shells, and murex shells, and add some other decorative elements of your choice, such as small pearls.

Napkin holder

With a little string and some shells you can make a beautiful napkin holder, perfect for showing off on a lovely summer table.

Jewellery

When pierced, shells become decorative elements in highly original jewelry , such as earrings and bracelets. Anklets are also a must-have accessory for summer.

Large and small shells, used together, can be used to cover bags, create cute letters to place on a shelf (just cover the shape cut out on cardboard), or simply hang them around the house as decorative elements.

Frame

How about using shells collected on the beach to decorate a photo frame? The process is quite simple:

• We recover slats from boxes or pallets.
• We cut four pieces with the hacksaw (let's get an adult to help us) 2x30x8 and 2×11,5 thickness 1,8.
• We glue the four parts together to form a small picture with a window ready to host our beautiful souvenir photo.
• Now let's have fun attaching the little shells and some other souvenirs (the little pieces of polished glass, which look like little gems, are perfect) found on the beach.

Creative recycling of shells also includes vases . Recycle some—even old ones left on the balcony will work just fine—and repurpose them as you like! You can leave them their natural color or paint them your favorite color before adding your shells.

• Use some vinyl glue and, with the help of a brush, spread it along the circular part of the vase.
• At this point, choose the shells according to your taste and begin to attach them one after the other along the part where you spread the glue without leaving space between one and the other.
• Place the smaller shells in the smaller spaces. Wait for everything to dry and you'll see what a beautiful result!

You can use vases for flowers, on balconies or indoors, or as decorative ornaments. Smaller ones, filled with wax and fitted with a wick, become unique candles. As if by magic, your home will always be a little summery.
