A day at the Domus de Luna association begins with the smell of Sardinia's clean air and the desire to help those in need. What was once a small organization in Cagliari has now become a hub where a sense of community and the fight against social exclusion translate into increasingly innovative projects of great social value.a House of the Moon It's like a matryoshka doll, and its activities, all connected, fit together. Perhaps the most distinctive thing is the methodDomus de Luna tries not to stop at the logic of emergency (“saving someone from a difficult situation”), but builds places, relationships, and opportunities so that that person can then live independently and with dignity.
Among the main activities that the community is committed to supporting is undoubtedly the support of families in particularly delicate economic and social conditions. The I Hug You Project It provides initial support to families and children living in poverty by distributing basic necessities.
Through ongoing programs, children, victims of violence or social exclusion have the opportunity to rebuild their future.: the Sa Domu Pitticca Center It offers specific programs to support them therapeutically. Once a suitable environment is provided, they are redirected towards new opportunities to achieve personal, occupational, and housing independence.
The Good and Bad Cooperative It's an initiative promoted by Domus de Luna itself, specifically aimed at creating employment and inclusion opportunities for people with disabilities, individuals who grew up in difficult family situations, and young people from the criminal circuit. Similarly, Fattoria Molto Sociale is another organization that uses the agricultural environment to promote environmental education and job reintegration.
The association's commitment extends beyond job reintegration: House of Dreams, It is a supportive holiday home that welcomes families and individuals to provide a relaxing and peaceful experience. All these initiatives highlight how fundraising campaigns can practically support community activities. House of the Moon. Even small financial contributions can translate into tangible opportunities, funding both immediate assistance interventions and long-term projects on a daily basis.
The most important numbers on the activity of Domus de Luna, which in some way measure its intensity and capillarity, are these:
- Reception community: 298 minors entrusted to the communities of Domus de Luna.
- Of these:
- 163 children under 12
- 78 teenagers
- 59 mothers with their children (the data concerns mother-child units welcomed into the communities).
- Sa Domu Pitticca Center: followed 184 Guests and supported 45 families through treatment and psychological-educational support paths.
- I Hug You Project (basic necessities for families in difficulty): has reached 9.981 beneficiaries, among which 2.273 minors in poverty.
- Exmè Center (prevention of youth hardship through music, art and sport): involves over 1.000 young people every year.
