Blood tests can also be done at home, using the do-it-yourself method, as long as they are always supervised by a doctor. Tests are often offered in the form of kits that allow you to collect a small blood sample (usually via a finger prick) and send it to a laboratory for analysis. The results are then returned to the patient, usually via an online platform or mobile app.
Then there are more innovative projects, as in the case of the startup Dianax which has patented, in collaboration with the San Raffaele hospital in Milan, a medical analysis laboratory contained in a 2 by 1,5 centimeter silicon chipThe response comes in ten minutes, and is invaluable for emergencies, but also for countries, like many African nations, where hospitals are poorly equipped for even the simplest tests.
There are three other advantages of this advanced technology:
- PortabilityEveryone can decide where and when to carry out the analyses
- Prevention. Being an easy-to-use device, the diagnosis and control of pathologies such as diabetes become accessible to everyone.
- Self MonitoringSelf-measurement of protein biomarkers, including in urine and saliva, allows for precise screening of one's health status.
