Pane Quotidiano: Free food for 5 people a day in Milan

A highly distributed association, with two daily distribution points in the Lombardy capital. The products arrive from businesses and private individuals.

Every morning (usually from Monday to Saturday) people show up at the distribution points in Milan of the association Daily Bread and receive a ready-made food package. These aren't meals consumed on site, but "shopping bags" with essentials like bread, milk, pasta, rice, fruit, or packaged foods, depending on what's available that day.

One of the distinctive features is that formal proof of financial status is not required: access is designed to be simple and respectful of people's dignity. In some cases, initial registration or a membership card may be required to better organize distributions, but the approach remains very direct.

The points where you can collect food parcels are located on Viale Toscana and Viale Monza.

The food distributed by Pane quotidiano comes from multiple sources.

  • Companies

Many companies in the sector (large food brands and supermarkets) donate products that are still perfectly consumable but cannot be sold, for example for:

  • end of production or overproduction
  • packages close to expiration
  • warehouse surpluses.

These donations constitute a very important part of the food distributed.

  • Private

More food comes from:

  • financial contributions from private individuals
  • collected food
  • food donations from citizens and associations.
