The social and health center was created within the parish of Sant'Antonio di Bari. Every Friday, volunteer doctors from the Nikolaos non-profit organization provide free prevention , visits, and screenings for adults and children from difficult and needy situations. The idea to open this center came from the tireless Father Vito Dipinto, parish priest of the church, who, together with the Vincentian volunteer group, involved health workers in this solidarity and assistance initiative to lend a hand not only to the families of the densely populated Madonnella neighborhood , but also to the many migrants . Indeed, the latter often have no place to go for medical examinations, and for them, the center is literally worth its weight in gold because it is the only way they have to know how to receive treatment . The medical team is led by retired vascular surgeon Enzo Limosano, who has decided to dedicate his time to serving the most vulnerable.

The Sant'Antonio Medical Center forms part of a small but highly effective solidarity network with the recently inaugurated facility in the parish of the Sacred Heart , also in Bari. "Ours is a true health center," Limosano stated in a recent interview with Nicola Lavacca in Avvenire , "where we want to welcome those who lack the means and resources to undergo specialist tests and check-ups, and whose lives could be at risk if they didn't receive help and support. We have been donated a defibrillator, which is essential for diagnosing the cause of a sudden illness and responding accordingly." The service is available within several spaces made available by the parish and is open every Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm . This way, all those people, whether Bari residents or immigrants, who don't have the money to seek specialist care and who, if left unattended, could even risk their lives, can turn to a facility that responds to the city's needs: "We are here .
