What to do with wood scraps

Instead of throwing them away, you can create plant shelves, picture frames, coasters, trays, and pen holders.

Creative wood recycling
Throwing away scrap wood, like any other waste, is truly wasteful, because it's a valuable material that's incredibly easy to repurpose through creative recycling. It can be used to make plant shelves, frames, coasters, and trays.

One of the most popular projects in the creative recycling of wood features fruit crates, now widely used in every field. To make a plain mirror more personal, you can use wooden twigs , provided you're a fan of rustic style. Get several of them of roughly similar dimensions. The length should be calculated based on the size of the mirror. Clean them up a bit if necessary and begin applying them to the mirror frame with a strong glue suitable for both wood and the target material. Continue applying them little by little until the mirror frame is completely covered, then add more twigs, gluing them on top of the previous ones, until you achieve the desired result.

Get yourself 4 pieces of wood of the same size. If you don't have any, you can cut them so they're all the same length and width. You'll need four, one of which will be painted your favorite color. Drill a small hole in the center of one of the pieces, then attach the hands to the front side and the back of the clock to the corresponding back. Join the various pieces together to form a square or rectangle using wood glue. Now all that's left to do is add a hook to the back and activate the clock, then hang it on the wall.

Shoe

Recycle 4 to 6 wooden fruit crates, sand them well, paint them, and join them together to form a convenient wall-mounted shoe rack, which you can place on the floor or hang on the wall.

Coasters

In this case, the wood scraps should be circular, and it doesn't matter if they're not all the same size: they'll be even more noticeable. Instead, if you want to complete the project, paint some floral designs to complete your DIY coasters.

Trays

Make a leaf to use as a tray for serving cheese. Carefully prepare the various pieces of wood and build the shape, then attach them one on top of the other with hot glue. Add small nails to the most delicate areas to make it less fragile and easier to handle.

Pen

If the scrap wood is sturdy and deep enough, you can hollow it out well and make a handy pen holder.
