What to do with leftover fabric

Fabric scraps should never be thrown away. It's a very easy material to reuse and make a variety of useful things, starting with an object you intend to discard. For example, you can make a kitchen apron out of jeans, a rag into a shopping bag, and if you have a lot of socks to throw away, you could even consider making a unique mini-rug.

Gloves from a sweater

Necessary

• 1 wool sweater
• 1 pair of scissors
• 1 pennarello
• 1 sewing machine (but you can do it with needle and thread)

Method

Method

After having prepared all the pieces, cut the square into 2 equal triangles and attach, right sides together, the two carefully finished pieces of fabric, to the centre of the long side of the triangle, place them one on top of the other, matching the edges and then sew them, right sides together, to the two lower sides of the shopperSew the handles and fold your shopper bag.

Towels

If you have any towels anonymous ones that you don't use, here's a very simple tip to renew them and make them suitable for your needs:

• Measure the edges of the towel and cut the fabric to double the length measured.
• Baste a 1 cm border on both sides of the strip of fabric, then drape it by joining, right sides together, 1 cm of fabric approximately every 2 cm.
• It takes very little time to pin without having to baste the work first, so even those who don't have a sewing machine can do it.

Sock rug

Make a carpet with lots of socks – even mismatched ones – it's a creative and fun project that can be made using a few simple tools and materials.

Necessary

• 1 bag of socks
• 1 rug base (an old rug or sturdy fabric)
• Scissors
• Needle and sewing thread (or fabric glue)

Method

Cut off the unwanted sock parts and unfold them so they lie flat. Begin gluing or sewing them onto the base using a needle and sewing thread or fabric glue. Start from the outside and work your way toward the inside of the rug. Continue attaching the socks until the rug base is completely covered. Make sure to attach them evenly and fill in all the empty spaces. Trim any excess thread and you're done.

Shirt top

Take an old one shirt and cut off the sleeves and collar. Open the sides and fold them inward, then sew them to form the new bottom hem. Also sew the center buttons to close the front.
