Green clay has a strong absorbent power, It also has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. For this reason, its use can also help the body with muscle pain, swelling, arthritis, and rheumatism.
How to prepare it
needed:
- 1–2 tablespoons of powdered green clay (preferably aerated)
- water (preferably not too calcareous) or a hydrolate, such as rose water or chamomile
- a small glass, ceramic or wooden bowl (avoid metal)
- a teaspoon or non-metallic spatula
Procedure:
- Place the clay in the bowl.
- Gradually add the water until you obtain a smooth cream with the consistency of yogurt: it should be neither too liquid nor too thick.
- Let it rest for a few minutes, then mix gently.
If you like, you can add a few drops of honey for a more emollient effect or aloe gel for greater hydration (if your skin tolerates it).
How to apply it
- Cleanse your face and dry it.
- Apply a thin layer of mask with clean fingers or a brush, avoiding:
- eye contour
- lips
- any irritated or cut areas
- Let it act:
- about 5–10 minutes for sensitive or dry skin
- about 10–15 minutes for combination or oily skin
It's better don't wait for the clay to dry completely and “tighten” the skin: when it starts to crack, the sensation of dryness can increase.
- Rinse with warm water, using a soft sponge if necessary.
- Apply a moisturizing or soothing cream.
Recommended frequency
- Oily/impure skin: Once a week (sometimes up to 2, if well tolerated)
- Normal skin: approx. every 10–15 days
- Dry or sensitive skin: less frequently or with gentler formulas.
For a softening and invigorating effect, A handful of dried green clay can be added to the bath water: just 30 minutes of soaking will be enough.
