How to make a mandala for children

Use spices for colors, and sponges for painting.

Necessary

  • A wooden circle
  • A mandala-shaped stencil about the size of the circle
  • White tempera
  • Spices of various colors
  • A brush
  • Painting sponges
  • Paper tape
  • Glasses or bowls

Method

  • Fix it stencil on the wooden circle with masking tape. Make sure the mandala is positioned perfectly in the center of the circle.
  • Prepare the colors by mixing white tempera with the spices of your choice. Avoid using too much spice to avoid the color becoming too lumpy. If it looks dull, you can always add a pinch of tempera in the same shade.
  • Take the painting sponges and dip the first one in the color you've chosen for the outermost part of the mandala. Dab the sponge onto the mandala.
  • Proceed by dipping the second sponge in the second color, then dab it on the mandala.
  • Take a third sponge and proceed in the same way. Of course, you can use three or more colors depending on your preference.
  • Let the paint dry completely and carefully remove the stencil.
