Foods that are useful for tanning
Diet can play an important role in determining an even, unforced tan, and also in maintaining it. Don't expect miracles, but there are certainly some interesting results you can achieve, while still keeping in mind that the best way to get a tan is to do it in the sun. natural way, without overdoing it with the sun and not getting it during peak hours.
The two key substances contained in foods that act as tanning allies are beta-carotene and lycopene.

Foods with beta-carotene

Beta-carotene can promote skin that is more ready and uniform for sun exposure for some biological reasons: it works as an antioxidant against UV rays, and by accumulating in the skin, it can give a slightly golden tone that combines with melanin, the natural pigment that colors the skin.

The group of foods rich in beta-carotene includes, first of all, orange-coloured fruits and vegetables:

  • Carrots: Among the most concentrated sources ever
  • Pumpkin: very rich and easily assimilated, especially cooked
  • Sweet potatoes: an excellent source of beta-carotene and energy.
  • Spinaci
  • Kale
  • Beets
  • Apricots
  • Mango
  • Cantaloupe melon

Foods with lycopene

Lycopene helps protect the skin from UV damage and allows for a cleaner, less irritated tan. It's found in these foods in particular:

  • Tomatoes (especially cooked or in sauce)
  • Watermelon
  • Pink grapefruit

Omega 3

Even the  Omega-3, while not directly increasing tanning, can improve the skin's response to the sun and therefore make the tan more solid and uniform.
- Omega-3 They are found in both animal and plant-based foods, but the most useful forms for the human body (EPA and DHA) are mainly found in fish, and in particular in these fish:
  • Salmon
  • Mackerel
  • Sardine
  • Herring
  • Anchovies
  • Tuna (less rich than the fatty fish above)

Vitamins

There are three vitamins you should take to help your skin tan healthily and evenly:
  • Vitamin A: fundamental for the skin cell turnover, ssupports the health of skin tissues.
  • Vitamin C: un powerful antioxidant that protects against UV damage and aids collagen production.
  • Vitamin E: protects cell membranes from oxidative stress and helps reduce damage from sun exposure.
