Traveling Italy on foot for research and to heal pain, Christian's story

Christian Cappello, a renowned travel blogger, lost his partner Marta in December 2015 while she was in the delivery room for her first child, who also died. To deal with this terrible tragedy, he wanted to keep a promise he made to the woman of his life by traveling 4600 km to support research into cystic fibrosis in children.

However, he had to experience his adventure of solidarity alone because on December 29, 2015, Marta, who was 35 and expecting her first child, entered the delivery room and emerged lifeless, along with her son. A drama which turned Christian's life upside down but gave him even more strength to carry on his "mission".

TRAVEL TO HELP CHILDREN

So on April 2, 2016, armed with boundless courage, Christian Cappello left Bassano Del Grappa for 10 months and 4 kilometers walking in Italy of the small villages Looking for centers specializing in the treatment of cystic fibrosis. In these places He brought empathy and fundraising, which raised over €100. Moreover, wherever he went, he was welcomed with enthusiasm and a desire to participate: in the Marche region, for example, earthquake victims offered him a place in a caravan, in Calabria they painted a mural for him, and in Lombardy a group of young people gave him a trolley they had created for his journey.

The march took the name of Marta4kids, in memory of his late wife. And ultimately the trip served not only to raise an extraordinary sum for research, but also to to heal Christian's incredible pain due to double mourningA medicine that was particularly effective because, through constant monitoring of his movements on social media, many people decided to accompany the blogger on part of his journey, taking turns and practically never leaving him alone. During his stops, he also visited as many as 25 people. hospitals and in particular to their cystic fibrosis treatment departments. His "enterprise" was also supported by a very prestigious supporter: one evening, in fact, Christian Cappello also received a phone call from Pope Francesco who wanted to respond to a letter that the blogger had sent him months earlier.
