An innovative, educational and contemporary cooking show: 'Chef Saves The Food' is an all-Italian idea that aims to raise public awareness on important issues, such as avoiding waste and enhancing the territory. The first season aired from October 19th to December 21st 2017 and saw the participation of 10 families and 10 chefs of the Como area.
CHEF SAVE THE FOOD
During the episodes, each family was paired with a chef. The chefs competed in a challenge against food waste: they had to create new dishes using leftover food from their assigned families. Starting from the culinary approach, the show aimed to spread the themes related tosustainable use of resources for the protection and conservation of territories.

COOKING SHOW TO AVOID FOOD WASTE
The episodes were broadcast on social media in video format, a non-random idea of the producers, who believed that in our increasingly connected society the media are closer to the viewer and allow a greater awareness towards the themes of non-waste and environmental protection. The public, who have discovered new recipes and techniques for reuse leftover food, voted for the best recipe. The winning family received a dinner at the assigned chef's restaurant as a prize; the chef, in turn, took home a supply for his own restaurant. In this way, the episodes, showcasing the territory and its history, enhance beauty of the environmental, cultural and territorial heritage of one of the most beautiful provinces in Italy, that of Cuneo, and encourage citizens to be eco-sustainable.
THE SECOND SEASON OF CHEF SAVE THE FOOD
The second season will move to Milan and will have a new, more engaging and compelling format. What will change compared to the first one? The competition against waste doubles: two families will compete in creating a menu with the ingredients they have available in their kitchens, when the Chef Save the Food team arrives unexpectedly. The two families will be joined by two presenters and will be led by a professional chefThe families themselves will judge each other, rating the taste, aesthetics, and hospitality of the dish. The chef will then decide the winner based on the votes and his own judgment, assessing how well and to what extent the family recovered the food.
CHEF SAVE THE FOOD'S SOCIAL COMMITMENT
Every year, approximately one-third of the food produced in the world for human consumption is wasted. According to FAO data: approximately 1,3 billion tons end up as wasteFood waste is extremely high both in Europe and in Italy, where every year 36 kilos of food are thrown away even though it could be consumed, a figure that translates into 15 billion euros wasted, 0,88% of GDP, of which almost 80% occurs within households. Food waste translates into wasted resources and labor, damage to the environment, and worsening global warming. The show is committed to the fight against waste, which has a economic, environmental and social implications.
