And yet, with those same dolls, someone manages to perform the miracle of giving a breath of happiness to those who know little about the word. In New York City, Barbara Lakin, a retired American fashion designer, has found a unique way to bring a smile to these little girls: transform discarded Barbies, refurbish them, put them in personalized packages and give them as gifts to the daughters of immigrants who have not yet found a balance in their new life in AmericaBelieving that dolls aren't just toys, but bringers of joy and comfort to children, Barbara decided to put her skills as a designer to good use to create something special for migrant girls going through difficult times. She began collecting used and discarded Barbies, which often end up forgotten in cellars or attics, and transformed them into authentic treasures. Using her skills in fashion and design, Barbara completely reimagined Barbie. She gave them new meanings. hand-sewn clothes, with colorful fabrics and intricate details, reflecting the culture and traditions of the girls to whom they will be given. Each Barbie becomes a personalized work of art., created with attention to detail: even the box is personalized. Like a real gift.
