When they started, Marco Costantino, Marco Ranieri, Antonio Scotti and Antonio Spera, members of the non-profit organization 'Farina 080', did not think they would become a unique case in Italy, of a widespread network in the territory for the recovery of food and against the food waste. And instead Leftover PeopleThis is the name of the association, in Bari it is a model that should be exported to all Italian cities.
How does it work? Food collection is widespread and is carried out using volunteers three times a week. bicycle or skates They stop by shops, bakeries, restaurants, and other establishments to pick up still-good products that won't be sold the next day. Then there are ad hoc events organized to recover leftover food, with nearly 2 recovery operations completed so far. And then there are the donors, individuals, but also associations and companies. They are also identified and found through a highly followed Facebook page.

The recovered food is then distributed equally widely to families and individuals in need throughout the area, through a network of 90 volunteer associations dedicated to fighting poverty and social hardship.
