Reduce waste. Recover all crop waste. Make abandoned land in inland areas productive. Agritech is a national center, with its central hub at the Federico II University of Naples, established to reduce waste in agricultural crops and update all stages of the agri-food supply chain. It's worth remembering that approximately one-third of the food produced is wasted along this process.
AGRITECH TO REDUCE WASTE IN AGRICULTURE
Agritech comprises 28 universities, 5 research centers, and 18 companies spread across the country. The Center for the Development of New Technologies aims to achieve five objectives:
- Adapt production to climate change and make it more sustainable;
- Reduce waste in agriculture, during production and distribution;
- Recover abandoned internal areas;
- Carry out processes for recovering waste from Italian-made agricultural products in accordance with the circular economy;
- Promote safety and traceability throughout the agri-food supply chain.
Agritech's partners also make no secret of their intention to update the Mediterranean diet to adapt it to the climate crisis and, above all, to changes in lifestyle.
