PAPER TOWELS WALLS –
In recent years, environmental sustainability has become a crucial issue in the manufacturing sector as well. Companies are very careful to comply with sustainability criteria. This is the case with Paredes Italia Spa, a company operating in the field of professional hygiene.
PAREDES ITALIA SPA –
With nearly 30 years of experience in the professional hygiene sector, Paredes Italia is a Genoese company with offices throughout Italy. It has always been at the forefront of professional hygiene: washing, drying, disinfection, and odor elimination. The hygiene of the hands It is a key sector for Paredes, since its originsHands are the part of the body most used by humans, in life and at work: for this reason they are also the main vectors for the transmission of bacteria. For drying hands, Paredes has developed six types of paper, which differ in composition and number of veils. In collaboration with the non-profit organization "Rete Clima" they have created a zero-emission paper towel.

CLIMATE NETWORK –
A working team that, in collaboration with the academic and research worlds, aims to network diverse and multidisciplinary skills to implement concrete climate protection projects for businesses and the local community, as well as to inform and raise awareness of environmental sustainability issues. the aim is to contain the effects of climate change through local sustainability action capable of generating positive glocal (global and local) climate effects.
CO2 COMPENSATED PAPER TOWELS –
Compensated paper towels are the product through which Paredes Italia and Rete Clima have managed to neutralize CO2 emissions. The LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study, in collaboration with the University of Genoa, allowed them to understand the carbon footprint of their best-selling product. The project involved offsetting these greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the life cycle of an initial batch of 4.000 paper towel boxes. This action was made possible by supporting the reforestation of Cantù's urban carbon sink. The CO2 generated will be reabsorbed throughout the urban forest's life cycle.Furthermore, before proceeding with the compensation, waste was reduced as much as possible both during production and use, by studying the right length of the tear to prevent incorrect use by the user.
The project can be applied to other products, besides paper towels, that meet the necessary characteristics for compensation. The project may include an extension to various activities within the wood urban for both the general public and schools. It is becoming increasingly important to reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, which cause global warming.
The project is competing for the 2016 edition of the Non Sprecare Award. To learn more about the competition and participate, go to here!
