HOW MUCH DO APPLIANCES CONSUME?
What can really be done to avoid energy waste caused by appliancesFirst of all, let's understand what is really responsible for the increased consumption: conditioner, refrigerator, washer and dryereAnd here's what you can do about it:
- Don't waste money on unnecessary appliances. In theory, they're convenient, because they reduce household chores. In practice, they're just wasteful, even counterproductive in every way. We're talking about small appliances that, frankly, border on the completely superfluous, that is, useless. Is it really that hard to squeeze oranges and lemons by hand, without buying an electric juicer? Are you convinced that grating Parmesan cheese is better with an electric appliance, also risking overdoing it (another waste)? Think about it, and even if these appliances aren't worth the huge amount of electricity, by doing without them, you're certainly wasting less money on your energy bill.
- Use the air conditioner carefully, only when necessary, with the “dehumidification” program and combining it with a ceiling fan leads to a reduction in consumption that can reach 75 percent.
- Use the washing machine at 30° instead of higher temperatures, leads to a 90 percent saving on electricity, much more important than using the “eco” program or having an appliance of a higher energy class.
- Change your refrigerator for an A+++ class one: starting from a class C you can save up to 100 euros a year.
- Reduce dryer use to ¼ For a family, this could mean saving over €160 a year. Whenever possible, you should extend your laundry load and avoid using this appliance.
- Switching to the free market: with the most convenient tariff, this option offers significant savings, equal to 7-10 percent less than the Authority's tariffs.
