Let's save Italian oranges and tomatoes: they're killing Made in Italy.

An initiative by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Italian Fruit and Vegetables Association to promote Italian products that are being squeezed by low prices and intense competition. The price drops, but not for consumers, are 40 percent.

WE DEFEND MADE IN ITALY –

The storm is perfect. And the damage to our agriculture could become incalculable. Production is very high, and of good quality, with a significant increase compared to last year, but imports from competing countries have also increased.

ITALIAN ORANGES AND TOMATOES –

The result is that the price of oranges has plummeted by 40 percent compared to 2015, for producers but with no benefit to consumers. And the same thing will happen with tomatoes. Essentially, fatal blows are falling on the shoulders of Italian agriculture. An attempt to stem this disaster comes from Ortofrutta Italia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture. A campaign in 4 thousand points of sale, throughout Italy, between March and April, to relaunch the consumption of oranges seasonal and thus support the producers. The same scheme will then be replicated for the tomatoes.

Imagine the absurdity: Sicilian producers, under these conditions, are forced to sell the island's counterfeit products, unique in the world, to large-scale retailers at 0,20 per kilo! While we pay around 2 euros at the greengrocer's. Something doesn't add up in these numbers, and consumers must make their voices heard in support of Italian agriculture, remembering that the qualities and properties of oranges and tomatoes produced in Italy are unique, and cannot be replicated by competitors' copies.
