Ryanair reimburses 100 passengers for extra costs.

Finally, someone has noticed that the former low-cost airline is squeezing its customers. And let's hope this blow serves as a lesson to other airlines as well.

Renzi's plane wasted money and cost

Finally, someone has noticed that Ryanair, the now former low-cost airline, is squeezing its customers at every opportunity with opaque extra charges. Following an investigation by the Italian Competition Authority (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato), the airline has pledged to compensate approximately 100,000 passengers with €1.5 million for additional check-in fees incurred by consumers. This commercial practice, widely practiced by Ryanair and other airlines, has been deemed unfair as it violates two articles, 21 and 22, of the Consumer Code. The refund applies to passengers who, between 2021 and 2023, paid additional, sometimes exorbitant, fees for checking in at the airport, as well as those who unfairly paid extra for carry-on baggage. The company has also committed to making travel conditions (and related prices) more transparent and clear, and it is to be hoped that the mini-sting to Ryanair will serve as a warning to other airlines that engage in the same unfair practices.
