Prism, the company that produces clothing from scraps and leftovers

Elisa is a young woman who has encountered violence from men. Abdu and Adam are two immigrants from Egypt, both experts in sampling and prototyping. Fardus, a Bangladeshi, and Nato, a Georgian, both refugees, are tailors. These are some of the workers at a startup founded in Buccinasco, near Milan, called Pirism, which recovers clothing products from companies (leftovers) and consumers (garments that would otherwise be wasted). 

In practice, Prism: 

• Produces clothing in a tailored way (it's not a traditional fast fashion, but works with laboratories and tailors) 
• Usa circular economy and upcyclingi.e.
  • recovers unsold or waste fabrics and materials
  • transform existing garments into new products 
• Collaborate with brands and companies to give new life to unused stock or unsold collections 
• It also has a strong social mission:
  • creates jobs for people in vulnerable situations (refugees, migrants, women who have suffered violence, the unemployed and elderly).

The Prism project was founded by Giovanni Lucchesi, a former missionary in Zambia, and is a concrete demonstration of how sustainable fashion requires a mandatory step: secure, well-paid work.
