Encourage kids to interact with each other "live", putting the smartphone aside for a few hours, at least during working hours schoolThis is the initiative adopted by the private Catholic high school 'San Benedetto' in Piacenza, where every morning students place their cell phones in a case that completely shields them until the school bell. The decision was adopted by the management with the approval of parents and represents a real detoxification process towards an instrument that inevitably represents a distracting during lessons. The new measure was adopted in September on the first day of school for the one hundred students of this small sports and applied sciences high school, built on the site of a cloistered convent. A place that might suggest 'obscurantist' intentions towards technology but, on the contrary, those responsible for the initiative assure that they believe a lot in the usefulness of cell phones but that they want encourage kids to start talking to each other again, forgetting WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook for a few hours.
CELL PHONES SCREENED IN CLASS
This measure was made possible thanks to an invention that comes directly from the United States where it has already been adopted in many colleges, courts, and concerts. The device is called Yondr and it's a storage bag where students put their cell phones during the first period. The case, which is kept by the students, has a lock that the teacher can close. unlock at the end of the dayThus, throughout the entire school day, including recess, cell phones remain sealed and shielded, effectively cutting students off from the digital world for five hours.
