I don't throw anything away: the disabled people's network against food waste.

A network that collects food from local markets and affiliated stores, then distributes it to families in need. Thanks to the work of some very special volunteers.

«I don't throw anything away» is a net, that fight against wasteFood, objects, and above all, people. In Lombardy, thanks to the efforts of the Milan Volunteer Service Center, the Milan Center for Food Law and Policy, and the Santa Rita Cooperative, the network operates in the region's most important provinces.

I DON'T THROW ANYTHING AWAY

The mechanism of I don't throw away It's simple, though it requires a lot of groundwork: volunteers are well-versed in the schedules and operation of the various local markets, and where agreements have been made, they arrive at closing time, while the street vendors are packing up, and collect the leftovers. Perfectly edible, they're ready to go in the garbage can. At that point, the recovered produce is distributed through associations and parishes dedicated to assisting disadvantaged families in the area.

SANTA RITA COOPERATIVE OF MILAN

Among the volunteers who work on the project "I throw nothing away" there are also Disabled Assisted by the Milanese Cooperative Santa Rita. And here, the fight against waste becomes a full-blown opportunity, not only to prevent food from ending up needlessly in the trash and instead ending up in the right hands, but also to help vulnerable people find a reason to live. Under the banner of solidarity and civilization of being together. The disabled children of the Santa Rita Cooperative alone recovered 16 tons of food that would otherwise have been wasted.
