First, you need to register on the Whooming portal: to do so, you need to fill out a short form with your login information and then call the number provided by the portal from your mobile phone. This will verify that you actually have the phone number you entered when you registered. Then, you need to set up call forwarding on your mobile phone.

From now on, all calls you receive from a hidden number can be revealed. Simply reject the incoming call and, within moments, you'll receive an email containing the full phone number of the person calling you.

Given that, in the case of frequent and even obsessive disorders, it is always a good idea to file a report with the competent authorities to avoid unpleasant surprises later, there are some things to keep in mind regarding the use of Whooming.
  • Using the platform is not free, except for the first seven days of trial. After that, you have to subscribe.
  • The cost is 11,99 euros for three months; 17,99 euros for six months; 23,99 euros for one year.Perhaps, to avoid wasting money, you could make a thoughtful decision: use the service until you've identified the potential harasser.
  • The Whooming service can be activated for both landlines and mobile phones.

How to find out who's calling for free

There's a rather complex method to find out who's making anonymous calls to your cell phone, without spending money, as we saw with the previous solution. We need to contact our telephone operator, and request the phone records of incoming and outgoing calls (this is our right). You could then find the anonymous caller's phone number through some of their calls, perhaps even by mistake, without obscuring their number.

Override is a service offered by all carriers to identify anonymous callers. It's activated by simply filling out a form on the website; it costs about €30 and lasts for 15 days. The solution is effective, the cost is high.

However, there are cases in which it is not advisable to waste too much time looking for the right solution to identify the telephone harassersThese are the cases in which it is necessary to proceed, even quickly, to report the matter to the competent authorities, perhaps even bringing some recorded calls. These are the anonymous phone calls which are repeated frequently, and demonstrate a clear attempt to stalkingOr they have a sexual nature, and contain veiled or explicit threats.
