How to clean the faucet filter

When cleaning a faucet filter, the first step, when we remove it, is very important. All faucet filters are removable; you'll need pliers or a special wrench. Be careful to proceed with delicacy, without forcing, to avoid scratching and ruining the chrome plating of the tap.

Once the faucet has been disassembled, the various pieces must be separated from each other. In particular: gaskets and screens should be cleaned separately, avoiding washing more filters than sink simultaneously.

Vinegar and warm water

At this point we have no choice but to proceed with a correct cleaning of the faucet filter. 

Necessary

• A clamp
• A nail file
• A bottle of vinegar

Method

• Unscrew Remove the filter from the faucet very gently and without tearing. Use pliers to help you.
• Take away the internal filter and clean it with a nail file which allows you to eliminate limescale, the real enemy of tap filters.
• Immerse Soak the filter in a small bowl of vinegar and warm water overnight. This way, you'll have used a natural product, not the usual chemical and polluting limescale remover. Keep in mind that vinegar, unlike chemical products, takes longer to work, so it's best to leave the filter immersed in water for a few hours.

Clean your tap filters at least every five to six months.But do it more often if you live in an area, like the city of Rome, where the municipal water is very high in limestone.
