Bruno Casagrande and Mirko Vicini They were two workers from Amiu, the company controlled by the city of Genoa that handles waste and the environment, who died on the job in the tragic collapse of the Morandi Bridge. A plaque, rightly, commemorates them at a symbolic location in the Ligurian capital, inaugurated in the summer of 2024: the Surplus Center, at Via Bologna 110 R, in the San Teodoro neighborhood, where everything is repaired, learned, reused, shared. And nothing is wasted.
Furnishings e knick-knacks, small appliances, clothes and garments, children's games, but also books for the Bookcrossing (except encyclopedias and schoolbooks), vinyl records, comics, and small objects such as vases, glasses, and plates.
How it works
Surplus? The inhabitant
- To repair something, in some cases it is necessary to also bring the tool or spare parts, or participate in a “Repair with us” event, but at the Surpluce Center you can also purchase items on display for this purpose (sale), according to different methods, which vary from a fixed price to a simple donation.
- The Centre has become part of the network of Repair Café, now widespread in many Italian regions,
- and the management is entrusted to Assoutenti Liguria, a consumer association well-known in the region for its activities. This allows Surplace to be open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, generally from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In any case, for information, you can call 010 540 256 or write to centrodelriuso@assoutenti.
liguria.it .
In addition to being a space for recovery, reuse and repairs, which allow for the reduction of the amount of waste in the city, The Center has become a sort of "neighborhood house", which welcomes volunteer associations, but also groups of citizens who want to carry out initiatives in the area, linked to sustainability and circularity.
