Casa Foresta in Turin is not the usual and controversial Vertical Forest in Milan, but rather an entire condominium project where everything has been designed with greenery in mind. A 5-story building surrounded by trees which grow in pots even on terraces and with many ponds in the courtyard, where the inhabitants can refresh themselves during the summer season: it is called 25 Green, and is located in Turin at Via Chiabrera 25.

A true happy island for those lucky enough to live there: the building resembles a gigantic tree where the 63 apartments resemble burrows dug into its interior. A project conceived and developed to allow people and nature to coexist seamlessly while remaining within the urban environment.

Designed by architect Luciano Pia, the structure presents itself as a real habitable forest in which greenery is present in every corner of the building. Around 150 tall trees and 50 smaller plants They produce approximately 150 liters of oxygen per hour, while at night they absorb approximately 200 liters of carbon dioxide per hour. Added to this is the absorption of fine particulate matter produced by city traffic.

Not to mention that plants are able to keep temperatures under control both in summer and winter, and that the solid wood slats that pave the irregular terraces are able to filter the sun's rays in summer and allow light to pass inside the various apartments during the winter. Trees can also protect apartments from external noise.

A one-of-a-kind structure in which "coat" insulation, ventilated walls, protection from direct solar radiation, heating and cooling systems, rainwater harvesting and the reuse of the greenery that characterizes the structure for irrigation contribute to maintaining good energy efficiency.

  • In addition to greenery, the complex integrates solutions such as geothermal energy, controlled mechanical ventilation, and a high-performance building envelope, achieving a high energy class.
  • Very large outdoor spaces. The terraces are a fundamental component of the project: overall they develop approximately 4.000 square meters, almost half the internal surface area of the apartments.
