LEATHER

If you have a faux leather item at home that you no longer use, perhaps because it's partially worn, cut it into a long strip, sew the edges tightly, and add a clasp. A versatile, wearable belt is ready.

FELT

The same assumptions made above apply to a DIY felt belt . If you have enough felt at home to make a belt, simply cut it and sew it into a long strip, even a two-tone one. Then, add a metal buckle.

NECKTIE

Ties are a precious resource for creative recycling. By combining two of them in different colors and patterns, you can create a unique belt that's perfect for enhancing a variety of simple looks.

WOOL

If you know how to knit , you can also make a gorgeous wool belt in any color you like. Once you've finished the long strip, you'll also need to finish it with a buckle. And that's it.

NECKLACE

Even an old necklace , one of those long ones with lots of embellishments, can become an elegant belt. Just like the one you see above. If it's too short, simply "lengthen" it with a metal chain.

CORSET

Naturally , fabric of any type and texture can also be used to create sophisticated DIY belts. This one, for example, can be made from taffeta, a dense, stiff silk fabric with a plain weave that's particularly suited to the purpose.
