Citrus: the platform that sells genuine and forgotten Italian agricultural products.

High-quality fruit and vegetables, but neglected by large-scale retailers, are wasted. The project of two women, Paola and Marianna, mother and daughter.

Marianna and Paola

Paola and Marianna Palella, mother and daughter, are the driving force behind Citrus L'orto Italiano, a project that seeks out even the smallest varieties of strictly Italian-made fruit and vegetables, which are routinely wasted because they aren't valued to their full potential.

Once the products and the right source for their delivery have been identified, they are added to the online shopping platform or even to some very select supermarkets. In the shopping section of the platform, a subsection is titled " It's Not My Season." This section lists products that will arrive in due time, and in fact, out-of-season purchases are discouraged, as they always result in a waste of both money and quality.

The two women explore lesser-known Italian varieties with unique characteristics, following the rhythm of natural seasonality: from Sicilian "verdello" lemons, offered in their three different blooms, to Calabrian bergamot, a king among citrus fruits for its nutritional properties. Their product catalog also includes beans, chickpeas, lentils, and barley. Always and exclusively made in Italy.
