CHILDREN OF ALEPPO –
This Christmas it must be dedicated to the children of AleppoTo the victims of an ongoing massacre, passed under our shortsighted, cynical, and barbaric silence. A silence that History will not forgive us and The news is already making us pay for it. In the Syrian city where fighting is still going on and where all anyone does is talk, talk only, about a truce and an end to the conflict, According to UNICEF, 4 children are stranded in eastern Aleppo.Rubble is everywhere; the bombings, in five years of war, have spared nothing and no one: hospitals, schools, roads, entire neighborhoods. Just two weeks ago, a kindergarten was hit by a missile: eight students killed and 100 injured.

THE DRAMA OF THE CHILDREN OF ALEPPO –
The children of Aleppo, many of them now orphans, rivet us in the face of the crimes that, punctually, with a boomerang effect, have then rebounded upon us, upon the peaceful coexistence of us Europeans, victims and executioners of two world wars of the twentieth century, deluded into thinking we had achieved an irreversible peace. The blood-stained hands of jihadist criminals, armed only with hatred, who sow terror and death in a Paris nightclub, on a seafront promenade on the French Riviera, or at a Christmas market in Berlin, have been strengthened by the endless and cruel Syrian conflict. The children of Aleppo, thousands and thousands of wasted lives, cry tears that have become ours, even if we have always ignored them..
CHILDHOOD DENIED TO THE CHILDREN OF ALEPPO –
For years, every time we set foot in the hotbed of internal wars within Islamic-leaning countries, we have consistently caused nothing but disaster. From the misguided and unrealistic war in Iraq (to "export democracy," as they said, when we have only exported destruction and chaos) to the elimination, even physical, of Gaddafi and his regime, which has left Libya in chaos, dominated only by criminals and terrorists.
The children of Aleppo, with their dismayed expressions, remind us that we pay a price for turning a blind eye to those Saudi regimes, with whom we do business, sell weapons, and finance election campaigns (like Clinton's), while pretending to ignore a small, tragic detail: they are the main financiers of radical Islam, which then kills in our homes, our cities, and our squares.
GENOCIDE OF CHILDREN IN SYRIA –
The children of Aleppo tell us that peace is not achieved through shady and irresponsible games with the enemy, perhaps just for money., dirty money, where religion is only a fragment compared to conflicts that arise from interests, pure interests. Who knows, perhaps, and this is the only hope, with the last year of a war that destroyed one of the oldest cities in the Arab world, a cycle has closed, and we will begin to look at reality knowing that Aleppo isn't that far away, it's not at the end of the world or outside of the world. And then we'll learn to look at those children as our own..
